The Prydes EasiFeeds Performance Horse Challenge has become a real highlight of the Classic week. The total prize pool for the event has swelled to $40,000, with the winner also taking home a beautiful $20,000 Navaho Trailer. 2017 also saw the introduction of the Breeders Gelding Incentive, adding $10,000 prize money to the 5 highest placed geldings.

This Challenge Honour Roll is to recognise the past winners and great horsemanship.

2019

Classic Champions: Wyatt Young & Spin N Pepsi (Seligman Spin x Sheady Dinkum)

Superstar Wyatt Young rode his way into the Landmark Classic record books, becoming the first rider to win both the Landmark Classic Campdraft and the Landmark Classic Challenge in 2019.

The 22-year-old horsemen secured the Prydes EasiFeed Australian Performance Horse Challenge Champion title, riding Lisa and Wayne McDonell’s Sheady 'Spin N Pepsi'. The duo completed their dry work on 75.96 and their cattle work section on 86.5 points. Finishing on a total 323.21 points.

Wayne & Lisa purchased the Seligman Spin x Sheady Dinkum Lady mare as a 3 year old in the 2018 Landmark Classic Sale for $30,000.

 

2018 

WINNER Lindee McNaughton & Candy Girl (Do Rey Me x Candy Niner)

The Prydes EasiFeed Australian Performance Horse Challenge has become a real highlight of Classic week. The eventual winner of the $8,000 cheque and $20,000 custom Navaho trailer was popular local competitor Lindee McNaughton on her and husband Scott’s mare “Candy Woman”. A dry score average of 89.5 and wet work average of 94.25 gave Lindee a final round aggregate of 184 and an overall score of 355.885, to narrowly beat Nathan Wilson to the title. 

Candy Woman was purchased for $7000 at the Landmark Classic sale in 2016 from NT vendor Tom Curtain. 

 

2017

WINNER Nathan Wilson & Amaroo Diamantinas Last (Acres Destiny x Diamantina Lynx)

Amaroo Diamantinas Last was purchased by Koobah Performance Horses in 2014 for $20,000 from vendor Robert Wing. 

 

2016

WINNER Jon Templeton and Royalle Signature (Acres Destiny x Royalle Cygnet)

Royalle Signature was purchased by David & Jessica Bell in 2013 for $20,000 from vendors Paul Dehnert & Amanda McLennan-Dehnert. The stallion later went through the ring at the 2017 Classic, selling for $49,000 to Mulwarree Stock Horses.

2015

WINNER Felicity Burton & JR Elsola Rey (RS Chisum x Jenny Wren)

Felicity and her husband Karl purchased JR Elsola Rey in 2012 for $5,000 from Victorian Tony Soffra. 

 

2014

WINNER Danny Fitzgerald riding Humducker (Acres Destiny x Oaks Special Duckling)

Humducker was purchased by David & Kandee Thorn in 2011 from vendor John Brekelmans, for $22,500. The stallion went through the ring at the 2014 Classic and sold for $36,000 to Residential Fire Sprinklers. 

 

2013

WINNER Mark Buttsworth and Stylish Unit (Peptos Stylish Oak x One Moore Time)

Stylish Unit was purchased by Diamond S Pty Ltd in 2012 for $42,000 from vendors Robb & Jeannette Belsher.
